In Nicosia, the division of Cyprus enters the fabric of the city itself. Known as the Green Line, the ceasefire line runs through the heart of the capital, forming part of the United Nations Buffer Zone that separates the two sides of the island.

But there is no single wall. The wall is made of many things: barrels, sandbags, concrete blocks, fences, sealed doorways, ruined buildings, and narrow strips of abandoned ground. Together, they form a fragmented barrier that cuts through streets, houses, courtyards, and commercial districts.

In places, the distance between the two sides narrows to only a few metres. Buildings once connected by streets now face barricades; windows become firing positions, doorways are blocked, and abandoned rooms remain just beyond places where everyday life continues.

This series looks at the Green Line as an urban wall—not a single structure, but a fractured boundary embedded in the architecture and daily life of the city.
