Across cultures, masks have been used to transform the face and the identity behind it. In rituals, festivals, theatre, and ceremony, they allow the wearer to step outside the ordinary self and assume another presence—human, spiritual, ancestral, comic, or feared.

A mask conceals, but it also reveals. Gesture, costume, posture, and the gaze that remains visible begin to carry meanings that the uncovered face normally holds. The person and the role coexist, creating an uncertain space between individual identity and collective tradition.

Masked Persona looks at that moment of transformation. Rather than treating masks as objects or costumes, the series approaches them as temporary identities—faces through which communities preserve memory, belief, humor, fear, and the desire to become someone, or something, other than oneself.
